Groups providing support for flood victims in Eastern Kentucky
Several organizations are providing support to flood victims in eastern Kentucky.
Governor Andy Beshear established the Team Eastern Kentucky Flood Relief Fund. Beshear says the tax-deductible donations will go first to pay for the funerals of each flood victim.
Other groups accepting online cash donations for flood relief efforts in eastern Kentucky include the American Red Cross, Save the Children and Aspire Appalachia, the Federal Disaster Management Agency said. emergencies in a press release.
People who want to volunteer to help clean up debris, provide shelter, or donate goods and services can register through a Kentucky emergency management portal.
Other groups that accept cleaning supplies, non-perishables, and other items include the Appalachian Regional Healthcare Foundation, Kentucky Educational Development Corporation, Franklin County Fiscal Court, Kentucky Department of Agriculture, and Kentucky Horse Council .
The Christian Appalachian Project organizes teams to strip buildings of crumbling materials that can lead to black mold. Team Rubicon removes debris and performs chainsaw operations. And New Frontier Outfitters is partnering with the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky to raise money by selling “Eastern Kentucky Strong” t-shirts for $20, FEMA said.
