PAN Communications announces PAN PREP

Students from participating schools will have new opportunities to lay the foundation for the integrated marketing and public relations industry

BOSTON, MA/ACCESSWIRE/September 12, 2022/ PAN Communications, a leading integrated marketing and public relations firm for B2B technology and healthcare brands, today announced a new BIPOC scholarship program in partnership with its existing relationships with historically black colleges or universities ( HBCU) to provide students with a deeper understanding of the profession of IM and Public Relations in the B2B technology and healthcare sectors.

The initiative, called PAN PREP (Public Relations Experience Program), is an expansion of the current PAN program PAN Portal Program and creates opportunities for senior undergraduate students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications or journalism to receive hands-on work experience in a fast-paced agency environment.

“We continue to navigate the lack of diversity in healthcare technology and communicationsso it was important to our management and employees that we find a meaningful way to provide access to students of color who want to learn more about our areas of expertise,” said Brandon Thomas, Vice President and Head of DEI, PAN. “As our agency grows in its DEI journey, thinking critically about where we can add value externally is a key goal. We hope this scholarship program will serve as a key example of our commitment wider DEI.”

The PAN Portal network was originally launched in 2016 with Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications, where CEO Phil Nardone served as an adjunct professor for more than 20 years. In 2020, the Portal network has been extended to a four-part guest lecture series offered at four additional schools, including two HBCUs, North Carolina A&T University and North Carolina Central University. This year, PAN Portal and the four-part guest lecture series will also partner with HBCU Dillard University and begin offering the scholarship to its students in 2023.

“Teaching has been such an important part of my life’s work and having the privilege of working with students from all walks of life has been such a rewarding experience over the years,” said Phil Nardone, CEO of PAN. “I hope that through this new scholarship, we will continue to develop our ability to create even more opportunities for the next generation of public relations professionals.”

The official launch of PAN PREP comes after two pilot semesters during which PAN collaborated internally on the fellowship experience and refined the program to its current state.
