Puget Sound Shipyard seeks to hire 1,500 workers at weekend job fair

The Puget Sound Shipyard is looking to hire 1,500 workers at a job fair in Puyallup this weekend.

Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS) is hosting the October 27-28 career fair at the Washington State Fairgrounds Expo Hall. The agency hopes to fill hundreds of entry-level and pathway-level federal positions, all full-time.

The PSNS said the event will last from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days.

Positions include work in:

  • Professions
  • Engineering
  • Administrative and resource management
  • Acquisition and contracts
  • Financial operations
  • Computer science
  • Science and technology

People of all skill and experience levels are encouraged to apply, including those with no professional skills or work experience, the agency said. Participants should bring their resume and prepare for on-site interviews. PSNS said tentative job offers could be made to applicants at the event.

Due to security restrictions, large bags and backpacks are not permitted. To be eligible for federal employment, applicants must be U.S. citizens, be at least 18 years old, pass security and physical fitness checks, and pass a pre-employment drug test for certain occupations .
